The Challenge

Our client is a vehicle finance broker that helps New Zealanders borrow for their next car. Finance is a high-value, trust-based decision, so every enquiry is worth following up properly.

The broker was starting from scratch on Meta, with a brand-new ad account, and wanted to find out whether Facebook and Instagram could bring in a steady flow of finance enquiries at a cost that made sense against the value of a settled loan.

02

Our Approach

We kept the setup simple: one campaign, enquiries sent to the broker’s own website, and a result judged on the whole period rather than the launch.

  1. Step 1

    One Campaign, Built for Enquiries

We launched a single Meta lead generation campaign. It runs three ad sets aimed at adults aged 18 to 65 across New Zealand: a broad nationwide audience, a set focused on the regions, and a set for testing new creative angles.

  2. Step 2

Send People to the Broker’s Own Enquiry Page

Rather than a Meta instant form, the ads sent people to the broker’s website to get in touch. An enquiry is counted when someone reaches the thank-you page after contacting the broker. Across the eight weeks there were about 11 enquiries for every 100 landing page views.

  3. Step 3

Judge the Whole Period, Not the Launch

The first few days of a new account were unusually cheap, so we judge this campaign on the full eight weeks rather than on its best days.

03

The Results

In its first eight weeks, the campaign delivered 115 enquiries at an average of $22 per enquiry.

How that split across the period:

  • First full month: 61% of the enquiries, at a cost per enquiry 16% below the eight-week average.
  • The remaining weeks (a part month): cost per enquiry was 49% higher than in the first month, and 25% above the eight-week average.

04

What These Numbers Do and Do Not Show

More than a quarter (27%) of the first month’s enquiries came in the first three days, at a much lower cost than the rest of the month, and the cost per enquiry has risen since. So we make no claim of improvement over time: this is a short, eight-week result from a new account. An enquiry is counted when the thank-you page loads, and that count is not de-duplicated, so a page reload could count twice. Whether any enquiry went on to an approved or settled loan is not measured in the ad data.

Key Takeaways

  1. 01

    Finance can work on Meta

A new account with no history produced 115 enquiries in its first eight weeks.

  2. 02

Judge a launch on more than its first days

The first three days were far cheaper than the weeks that followed, which is why we report the whole period.

  3. 03

Send high-value leads to your own site

Enquiries through the broker’s own page arrive in the broker’s own system, ready for follow-up.

  4. 04

    Follow-up decides the value

In finance the enquiry is the start. Fast, clear follow-up is what turns it into a settled loan.

This is an early result from a new account, and we report it as one: 115 enquiries over eight weeks at $22 each, with the cost per enquiry rising after the first month.
